A Cycling Mecca

Bellingham and Whatcom County residents and visitors enjoy a vibrant and varied cycling community. With hundreds of miles of rideable road, gravel, and mountain bike trails, there's never a shortage of places to ride and types of riding.

Also, plenty of coffee to fuel your morning and craft brewing for after the ride.

Bike shops galore

Whatcom County is home to the world headquarters of Kona Cycles, Evil Bikes, and Transition Bikes. Bellingham and the surrounding areas host numerous local bike shops: Fairhaven Bicycles, Earl's Bike Shop, Tim's Bike Shop,Jack's Bicycle Center, Lenny's Bike Shop, Fanatik, and more .

Bellingham is also home to the Hub Community Bike Shop - a nonprofit which repairs, restores, parts out and upcycles...bicycles!

A supportive cycling community

Community-based groups like the Vamos Outdoors Project and Shifting Gears help new people discover the joys of cycling and belonging. Whatcom Smart Trips and Walk and Roll Bellingham work to make our community a safer and cleaner place to get around on wheels, feet, and buses.

Galbraith Mountain is the go-to spot for mountain bikers year-round. Check out our partners at the Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition for more information about Galbraith and the regional mountain biking scene.

Cascade Cross hosts the area's annual cyclocross series each fall and winter, and works with cyclocross enthusiasts to organize training to prepare experienced cyclocross riders and welcome new ones to the sport. For some gritty local fun, get in touch with the people at the Washington Endurance Series.

The Mount Baker Bike Club is a proud member of the North Puget Sound Bicycle Alliance ("NPSBA") - four regional club in the northern Puget Sound area. If you're looking to expand your riding outside of Bellingham, the NPSBA is a great resource. Mt. Baker Bike Club members enjoy reciprocal discounts on the clubs' classics registration fees.

There are lots of regular community rides - check out our weekly rides page.
